Personal Background
This memorial website was created by Judy, in loving memory of our beloved son Curtis. Curtis was born in Maryville Mo. on a Thursday afternoon, at 4:22 pm, October 3,1989. Curtis was called home on April 5, 2008, we will remember him forever in our hearts.
Curtis has four brothers, Corey, Chad, Dustin and Connor, and two sisters, Lenai and Destiny who will miss him terribly. Curtis was so full of life and always had a smile on his face. When Curtis was very young we knew he truely was an angel sent to teach us what life was all about, and he did. He was always such a fun and energetic child. Curtis kept us all smiling and laughing. His brothers Corey and Chad played baseball through the summers when Curtis was very small so he started very young being around lots of people. He was like a magnet, he captured the attention of anyone close enough to see or hear him. He was truly a blessing to us. He always wanted his family to be happy, he was the peace maker, Curtis had a gift of knowing just how you were feeling when he walked into a room. Curtis' family always came first, he didn't waiver for the sake of others, yet he was a loyal and trusted friend. He had many friends who cared deeply for him. He was always there to support a friend in need.
Curtis was not one to go out on the weekends, instead he was usually at home, sometimes with a girlfriend watching movies or spending countless hours working on his many projects, usually an engine was involved, or he would spend time with Chad at his house. He enjoyed all outdoor shooting sports, hunting anything that was in season. Deer hunting was his favorite. He also spent alot of time with Danie, Chad and Dustin shooting clay pigeons.
Everyone who knew Curtis loved him, he was an inspiration to us all. Curtis had planned to go onto college in the fall at SDSU to study diesel mechanics, but he also wanted to continue working on the farm for David Fremark. Curtis enjoyed the farm and was the most cautious when working around the big equipment. There wasn't anything that David would ask him to do that he couldn't do. Things just seemed to come easy for him. He always did the best job that he could. He was even driving semis on the farm hauling grain and livestock and had been since he was 16 yrs. old. He especially liked driving those big rigs.
Curtis was a very gifted and handsome young man, he had a personality that he could take to anyone young and old. He could talk to anyone and did. He always made time for whoever needed him. He always had alot of fun with his brother Chad they had become very close, whether they were working, hunting, fishing or just hangin out. They had fun doing it.
Curtis was and still is an inspiration to us all. He is missed every minute of every day by his family and his many friends.
Curtis we love you and miss you sooooo very much!!!!!!!!

Dustin - Curtis-
I miss you so much you have no idea what the family is going through. your time here with me was surely not long enough. i guess i should just look at the bright side and look at how lucky i was to have you for a brother.you told me this summer that you and me were going to work on some vehicles and you were going to teach me all you knew. i never imagined that this would happen. you were to young to die and i dont understand why god took you other than the saying that god only takes the best. i only wish that i could have you back but i know that if you could come back you wouldnt because you are in heaven now and there is no pain or suffering in heaven. well i got to go so i love you curtis and ill talk to you later.
Love,
your brother Dustin
Jessica Ortmeier - Curt and I always called ourselves on-and-off friends. There would be one day that we would say that we were friends, and then maybe a few minutes later it would always be changed around that we were not friends anymore, but we always just joked around. Fourth period almost everyday, Curt would join our lunch table and pour ranch over everything to cover up the taste, and I have to admit that it was a good idea. I remember the last day that he was with us, he came to the lunch table and asked how the hot dogs were. I told him they were the usual, and he said that he was going to go and get some salad then. He came back with not one but two of the hot dogs and just a little salad on his plate, and sure enough he poured ranch all over the hot dogs. After we had out great looking lunch we walked down the hallway, and Curt comes up behind us rolling tape down the hallway towards us. So we bowled with tape down the hallway for a few minutes, and then he commented on my car. We went out to go and check out the car and I showed him my sunroof, and his reaction to it was "Hell No!". Then he just had to write on the hood of my car. He drew a very weird smiley face, but before he was finished we got in trouble like usual. The teacher asked us if we had anything better to do than scratch the car, and he pointed at me and told her that it was my car, funniest awkward moment ever! So after we got done with the car, I told him that I would see him later...and that is my promise. I realize now more than ever, that the last Friday that I saw him was special because i spent more time with him that day more than ever. Now I see that everything has a reason, no matter if you realize it sooner or later.
Jessica Dawson Curtis step mom - The first time I mes Curtis he was 10 yrs old. We played video games together. when I was getting ready to leave he went around the yard and picked me flowers. As long as I knew him he always had a smile on his face. We all are lucky to have met such a wonderful guy.
